Victoria Husted Medvec, Ph.D.

Executive consultant, professor, researcher and business leader are just
few of the titles that have distinguished Victoria Medvec’s career and
commitment to management development and organizational leadership. Through
affiliations with leading universities and extensive contact with senior
executives of Fortune 500 corporations, Medvec is recognized as a pioneer
in the art of strategic negotiations and executive decision-making.
Medvec has earned numerous awards for teaching excellence in her current
role as the Adeline Barry Davee Associate Professor of Management and Organizations
at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and in
previous faculty positions at Cornell University. She advises executives
from some of the world’s leading corporations on the broad organizational
implications resulting from mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic
realignments.
Medvec’s primary research has focused on how people feel about the decisions
they make and how negotiators can manage the other side’s emotional reactions.
Her work has been published in leading academic journals and highlighted
in major media outlets, including Psychological Review, the Journal of
Personality and Social Psychology, Organization Behavior and Human Decision
Processes, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington
Post, and the Today Show.
Medvec was one of the original founders of the Center for Executive Women
at Kellogg Business School at Northwestern University, and has served as
the Executive Director since 2001. The Center has captured national attention
for its efforts to change the face of corporate leadership by having more
women lead and serve on boards of Fortune 1000 companies. Medvec is a member
of the Board of Directors for Guaranty Financial Corp.
Medvec holds a BA from Bucknell University and a PhD in Psychology from
Cornell University. |
