Rench is an Executive Advisor
with Shields Meneley Partners, a
leading provider of executive
consulting services to
individuals and organizations
around the world. SMP
specializes in career, life, and
business solutions, and is

executive effectiveness to
organizational performance
During a 26-year career with
GTE, Mr. Rench was in charge of
several large international
management information systems
(MIS) organizations. Most
recently, Mr. Rench served as
Director of MIS for the
company's Electrical Products
Group, where his team of over
350 employees was responsible
for all management information
systems, office automation
systems, and telecommunication
systems and resources. In that
role, he facilitated a major
business restructuring by
collapsing a nationwide network
of 24 individual systems into
two midsize computers and
formulated and executed
strategies to reduce costs for
software development, systems
maintenance, and staff
recruitment
At GTE's Sylvania Lighting
Products Group, where he was
Director of MIS, Mr. Rench
oversaw the group's electronic
data processing (EDP), office
automation, electronic mail, and
voice and data communications
systems. He developed and
executed a strategy to create a
uniform MIS environment across
16 locations in Europe and
implemented large mainframe
database applications using
fourth-generation languages. The
latter project, which included a
new billing system, streamlined
billing processes, reduced
maintenance by 60 percent, and
virtually eliminated billing
errors. As manager of EDP, Mr.
Rench oversaw MIS operations in
the United States, including a
centralized mainframe data
center and decentralized
minicomputer systems in remote
plants
Mr. Rench began his career with
GTE at the company's Sylvania
Chemical and Metallurgical
Division, where he held
positions of increasing
responsibility in product
development and MIS. Key
accomplishments include being
awarded three patents and six
patent disclosures for new
manufacturing processes and the
implementation of an on-line,
real-time workload system to
continuously adjust the
arrangement of people and
machines to meet customers'
needs. Before joining GTE, Mr.
Rench worked as an engineer at
the Westinghouse Bettis Atomic
Power Laboratory. |
